This second album from Brigid Boden is just about impossible to find in the US, but worth seeking out. At only 43 minutes, it's a bit short, and much of this music is a departure from the Celtic dance-pop found on her first release, but Brigid's lush and unique voice is outstanding in any format."I Am the Wind" is a very catchy tune and both it and "Love Is the Journey" almost feel like tracks that could have come from her first album."On and On" and "Time" are both fairly mellow and "As Tears Go By" is a good cover of the Rolling Stones tune. The title track, "Innocence Is Not a Crime", is a sort of trance number that just seems out of place to me, and I can't figure out why the album was named after this one (honestly, it just sounds a bit creepy)."Pray" is probably my favorite track here. I'm normally turned off by overtly spiritual lyrics, but this one simply works. However, the following track, "Angels Come to Earth", is just a bit too saccharine for my taste."My Secret Love" and "Ancient Cities" both have the feel of a traditional Celtic tune and are well done."Eve's Chant" is... Um... It's a short chant. Frankly, a bit odd.The last track, "Who Wants to Live Forever", is a great cover of the classic Queen song.Note that while Amazon's listing claims this is a 2007 release, it actually came out in 2001. Hopefully we'll hear more from Brigid one of these days.
