As I wrote after reading the first book in this series, good story with a dual plot line - two mysteries separated by time, ultimately connected. I enjoy the combination of archeology and modern crime solving. However, I still don't care for the characters - with the exception of Wesley's boss, who is self-deprecating and the only one with a sense of humor. And sadly, I get the impression he is about to retire and turn his job over to the dour Wesley. Now that he's also a new father, he is bound to become even more put-upon and resentful of his family duties taking him away from his work and his passion for archeology. I'm not even going to go into his obnoxious coworkers! I will read the next book in the series, but if the characters don't improve it will be the last. This is no Ellie Griffiths, which was the reason I tried this out - it was recommended as being similar. The only similarity is archeology.
