Dell wrote several series lf what they called "police procedurals" beginning in the 60's and through the early 80's. They generally show how the LAPD worked in those times, to solve crimes. No internet - in fact, in the beginning - the early 60's -- n computeres. Early use of NCIC. No DNA, just cops doing the legwork, looking in their records for possible suspects on a crime. They did have convicts and ex-cons records by the types of crime they committed. Lots of smoking, having to find a phone booth to call in (just like on the early 1990's on Law & Order). No cell phones, of course. If you are interested in finding out how crimjes were solved in this 20 year period that Ms. Shannon wwrote her books, these are well-written and her characters (except for the crooks and some of them are) very interesting.
